A stunning place to tour. The Mountains vary so much around each of the areas that you visit. Loved the area of the monkeys fingers. Darren and his wife were excellent guides. The accommodation was excellent and very varied so you experience all different kinds of hotels. The rooms in the cave hotel was a stunning experience, I will remember the time of trying out night photography of the stars. You will meet and photograph in many varied situations that will inspire you, landscapes, markets and people in there homes.
My parents loved the tour and the guide was excellent! His Russian is perfect.
Great day trip into Marrakech today, Hafid was a great host, picking us up from our hotel and giving us exactly what we asked for – ‘goats in trees’, Argan Oil Co-op and loads more. Really pleased we booked to go with Darren who was professional and helpful and Hafid made for a wonderful day out.
We enjoyed a hassle-free day trip to Marrakech with a perfect itinerary. Every effort was made to ensure we were happy and comfortable by Hafid. We would definitely recommend speaking with Darren next time you are in Morocco.
We travelled with Hafid our driver from Essaouira on an 8 day tour with our itinerary arranged by Darren. We wanted to see the Cascades, Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley but we experienced so much more; staying in an oasis village we’d never heard of in an old Ksar and visiting a nomad family and a cobbler! The route meant we didn’t spend too many hours on the road each day something we were aware of before booking and part of our decision to book with Wheels. Hafid is very patient. Both my wife and I were impressed with his driving skills & each night we arrived he helped with our luggage if the hotel staff were busy. In all the hotels were very good. Bagdad Cafe in Ait Benhaddou was my favourite. Very lovely hosts. Seeing the views of the High Atlas were also breathtaking. I can’t recommend the tour enough. We’ll be back to cover another part of Morocco.
In February I went on a photographic trip with Darren Lewey to the Atlas mountains. I can recommend this trip for the beautiful mountain scenery, the river valleys with the almond trees in flower and ancient ruins melting back into the earth. The people were very friendly and allowed us to take their pictures. I hope to go on another trip with Darren in the future.
Darren and his Moroccan team deliver a very professional, well organized yet exciting tour; taking care of all of us well before we arrived and without them this experience wouldn’t have been the same. For each day different sights and activities were proposed, and depending on the weather conditions or our group interests alternative plans were available in a very easygoing way.
We had the privilege to visit wonderful cities, like Ait Ben Haddou (where few movies were partially recorded in, like Gladiator), amazing landscapes (including the Atlas mountains, the dunes, oasis, etc) and the unique possibility to get to know the generous, genuine and happy Moroccan people; visiting their houses, markets, etc… learning about their culture and enjoying wonderful stories while drinking tea. We even had a chance to share some hours with a Nomad family in a very remote location in the Atlas, as well as to enjoy a camel trip to a Berber camp in the dunes where we spent the night.
The hotels were picturesque, clean and with a good service. We always had good local food, and the van trips didn’t feel very long.
We visited some amazing locations (Essaouira Medina and port, Ait benhaddou, an oasis, the Atlas mountains, Dades valley). Each of the Hotel/Riads were carefully chosen by Darren for comfort, location and their warm welcome and the food was always great. It is well worth taking some time in Essaouira to learn Moroccan cookery – we loved the tour of the spice market to buy ingredients for the sweet Tagine we made! Thank you Darren and Naima for a wonderful and memorable week.
Thank you again for leading our holiday we saw parts of Morocco that we would not have seen by most other ways and I am certain that when we have time to go through our pictures that we will have a good stock to go with the memories.
Darren expertly navigates the territory in a Land Cruiser and his Moroccan wife knows the culture so you learn quite a bit about Morocco while taking great pictures under blue skies and moderate temperatures (in February).
Thanks to everyone for a great trip and of course especially Darren.
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for all your hard work in making our first holiday in many years such an enjoyable experience, and one that we shall never forget.
Carine and I would like to say thanks for a wonderful experience, the organisation was excellent, the locations fantastic. Thanks to both you and Naima for a wonderful time & unforgettable holiday.
